Donaldson began uploading videos on YouTube in early 2012 at the age of 13, under the handle "MrBeast6000"; his early videos ranged from "Let's Plays" to "videos which estimated the wealth of other YouTubers." After his 2017 "Counting to 100,000" video garnered tens of thousands of views in a matter of days, Donaldson was a YouTube sensation. His early content included Let's Plays and videos that predicted the worth of other YouTubers. Donaldson employed a number of his childhood friends as his assistants for his growing channel. MrBeast was the main YouTube channel of Donaldson, with 60 members.
