Emily Bett Rickards is a Canadian born actor. She is most well-known in the US for her character Felicity Smoak on The CW series Arrow. Rickards was born and raised in British Columbia. Beginning on her career path as a child, she was introduced to dance and theatre in the hopes of introducing herself to more serious acting. She finished high school before her schedule and began studying at Vancouver Film School where she received her Acting Essentials Certificate. After completing the program, she attended an open call audition, which gained her an agent. Alida Vocal Studio was her school of choice in Vancouver. Her chemistry was with Stephen Amell, positive feedback from fans and the sarcastic comments she made led to being initially signed as a single-episode Guest Star.
