Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a singer who was born in Newark New Jersey on the 9th of August, 1963. Her parents are gospel singers Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard) as well as John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick sings as well. She began singing in the choir of her church The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark when she was a child at the age of 15, she had begun singing backing vocals professionally with the mother of her on Chaka Khan's hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman.
